It is not a huge topic that is discussed on the mainstream media all of the time, but apartment storage solutions are pretty important. For many reasons. If you think about it, there are millions of people throughout the country that live in apartment complexes of various sizes and classes. Each and every one of these tenants has extra stuff that they don’t use all of the time but do not want to throw it away. What is somebody supposed to do with the artificial holiday tree that only goes up once a year? What about the big fluffy coats and jackets that only come out in the wintertime? People are people, and many of them have stuff.
The Non-Storage Delima
Even in the cases where the apartment owners install wire mesh storage bins for a storage solution, there is still a problem. What happens is when tenants store their extra belongings in plain sight of the community, thieves can see opportunities to come back when nobody is looking and steal whatever catches their eye.
Apartments that offer no type of storage solution at all set themselves up for a plethora of issues. Because so many of the renters have extra stuff that they would rather hide away out of sight until it is time to put them to use, many of them resort to putting extra belongings in places that are not necessarily good places.
For instance, renters will use the head of their parking spaces to store extra things. They can park their vehicles far enough back to where there is a little bit of space where the front of their car parks. If there is enough room to store a few boxes, or whatever, they will use it. Bikes, camping equipment…whatever. As long as it fits there it is out of the way and can just sit there until they need it. They will use hallways and balconies to store their extra stuff in as well. This kind of practice is not only unsightly but can also cause dangerous problems.

On top of the thieves being able to see everything and take their pick of stuff to steal, piles of stuff attract rats, spiders, roaches, and other pests. People walking by can trip over unkept piles of property as well. To top it all off, when new potential renters show up to check the place out they will see how awful and unkempt it looks and will most likely choose to live elsewhere. Most of the time the renters that have the ability to choose where they live are the best ones that pay on time.
Privacy and Security
Privacy and security are two important factors when it comes to being comfortable in the place where you live. Of course, there may be some people that have no value for privacy or security in their lives, and that’s OK. Most people would rather live in a place that they feel comfortable in, and that comfort has much to do with feeling safe.
By providing a private, secure solution for people to store their excess property in the whole ambiance of the complex seems brighter and better. People like to at least feel like they live in a place where the management is looking out for their best interests. In complexes where there is no type of extra storage provisions, it would most certainly seem as if the complex itself would rather allow the tenants to fend for themselves other than help to provide an adequate solution.
