Best Lighting for Bathrooms That Don’t Have Windows

Best Lighting for Bathrooms That Don’t Have Windows

Windows are one of the biggest blessings in any room. They add a lot of natural light in the space and keep things from looking dull and boring. With them, you get to have a different look of the space when it’s daytime, and another when it’s nighttime. They’re just as important in a bathroom as they are in a living room! However, not all bathrooms in every home have windows in them. Some don’t even have a tiny one, and you’re stuck with a space that needs to be artificially lit up day and night. Now, if you’ve got a bathroom like this, don’t worry! There are ways to light up the space and make it look great! Without a window!

#1: Light Up Vanity Mirror

Mirrors are great for doubling the light in any space, especially bathrooms. Bathrooms are pretty much centered around the main mirror over the sink, and a great way to add a lot of lighting to the room, is by lighting up the entire vanity. You can do this by adding lighting on the mirror itself, or swapping out the original mirror with one that has a vanity light built in! Those have a strip of light running under the vanity and it helps create a more seamless look overall! Although, these may not be the easiest to install on your own. To ensure that the installation is done properly, call in electricians Vancouver, or a local electrician in your general area to come and install the vanity mirror for you!

#2: Over the Mirror Lighting

If a vanity light is too intense for you, and you want to keep things a little more subtle while still getting good lighting in your windowless bathroom, you might want to try over the mirror lighting. These come in many different shapes and sizes and some are even adjustable in terms of temperature and intensity! They’re great to add a nice amount of lighting without getting totally blinded by it every time you walk by the mirror!

#3: Wall Sconces

Another type of lighting that you can use in a windowless bathroom is wall sconces! Wall sconces are typically for bedrooms but they also work really well in a bathroom too! You can have wall sconces running across the entire bathroom but the best way to use them is by using them on either side of the mirror! That way they’re basically working as a vanity light, so they’ll light up your face in the mirror beautifully, and they’ll also light up the rest of the bathroom with a soft light!

#4: Layered Lighting

Natural light has a natural layering to it by the time it makes it indoors, which is why sometimes when we add artificial lighting to it it doesn’t really give the same feel and looks all too “fake”. A great way of adding a bit of character to the bathroom, and get a nicer feel with the lighting is by layering the light. This can be done by adding some wall sconces by the mirror, an overhead light in a different section of the bathroom, and a subtle, less intense light in a corner! They’ll come together to create a really soft, ambiance to the bathroom while still adding a good amount of light everywhere!

#5: A Chandelier

You might think that Chandeliers are supposed to be these grand additions to the main living space of a home, and that that’s the only place they work in, but that’s not true! Chandeliers come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes! You can add a nice, small or medium chandelier in the bathroom to add a touch of design while getting some extra lighting! Giving your bathroom a unique look, and making the space bright without a window!
