hey guys here welcome to roofing insights Tuesday tip so today I want to talk real quick about certifications should you become a certified contractor for any brand out there one thing about a roofing certification it’s not like auto certification if you want to become a mechanic and youdmitri want to fix Mercedes – Benz cars they’re gonna send you to the school for like year in two years and then you’re gonna come back and you know exactly how to work a Mercedes Benz cars well in the roofing industry is a little bit different manufacturers look certifications more as you.
Become under dealer versus installers thing they become professionals so I personally been certified for quite a few brands they’ve never taught me how to do how to install their product I’ve never attended any hands-on training and also they’ve never seen any of my work so what scares me is I ‘m kind of guy I of want to do IT right I of want to the read IT the when I read instructions and things like.
That and there’s a lot of guys the who do not know what for They’re doing for They do not the know the difference for Between one brand another nailing pattern and things like That one’s Thing found here on this event work where we’re picture talking about nailing the zone and there are line and roofers Were Asked toenail a shingle and for them just ! go by the line an INSTEAD of a common all bond zone things like That IT’s ITS number one’s mistake right But you have to be trained not to the make.
That mistake SO the if you thinking to Become a certified the ask what it is there for you are you gonna the get a training are you gonna are for They gonna inspect your work I of love what due last DID what due last DID IT’s a flat roof manufacturer and for They the put in place system when they go and inspect your jobs in order to issue warrant you for their roofs they inspect your work and they rank their installers so every installer.
Get ranked for a job so I think it’s 100 points and let’s say you get like 92 because you were sloppy around the corners you know things like that and I love it I think other manufacturers should learn from it and maybe adopt something similar because if you allow me to put name on your product and that issue your warranty but you’ve never seen my jobs while you’re doing it and the answer for me is because most manufacturers see us as dealers not as professionals necessarily they recognize our numbers the more you sell the higher rank is and companies who sell one brand or like some kind of elite status with that brand usually sell 80 % or more of those shingles so be careful if you want to become a certified it’s great so I think certification is great I think what manufacturers have to work.
