Learning More About The Intellectual Revolt in The Nigerian Polity

Nigeria is a corrupt country – there is nothing new about it. From the military regimes till date the country has been neck deep into corruption. Whenever a new leader initiates their regime, they commit to fighting corruption, but then they quickly forget as they start enjoying the spoils of their office.

Undoubtedly whatsoever Nigerians need as a   Try OXYwater   nation is a revolution. A revolt that helps bring order and law in the state of anarchy that they have been experiencing since long. Considering the Ghanaian revolution, in June year 1979, J. J Rawlins staged a bloody revolt of its own ruling class. He initiated it by wiping the Supreme Military Council in the persons of Fred Akuffo, Akwasi Afrifa, and Ignatius Kutu Acheampong.  Five other army generals were also killed: Utuka, Roger Felli, Yaw Boakye, and Joy Amedume. Various other top brasses in Ghana were killed such as the Supreme Court Justices Kwadjo Agyei Agyepong, Frederick Sarkodie, and others. In all about 40 people were killed by firing squad in the ‘Ghana cleansing’.

If you compile the list of corrupt people in Nigeria you will discover that there are literally mind-blowing figures that fall under this category. While you take states of prior and presently-serving government officials such as the President, the Vice-President, the House of Representative Members, Senators, Governors, Special Assistance, House of Assembly members, Special Advisers, DG’s, permanent secretaries, Vice Chancellors, you will certainly get an astonishing figure.  If you intend to execute all of these, Nigeria certainly will be littered with blood. It is not just the government officials but most Nigerians are corrupt. You will find corruption in every sector in Nigeria, be it schools, banks, or in the markets. The corruption cuts across all the hemisphere of the Nigerian polity.

The solution to corruption is education. Democracy is a form of government where people govern. It is more like everyone’s thing. The President of the state along with other leaders are considered to be the servants of the nation, and it is the public that decides on what they want. But in Africa, it’s quite opposite, as the democratic leaders act as lords. Nigerians must be re-awakened about their rights. There should be a consciousness within the polity before Nigeria could actually move ahead.
