How To Style Glass Kitchen Cabinets

How To Style Glass Kitchen Cabinets

When I designed my kitchen, I desired upper cabinets with glass fronts. I cherish glass-styled cabinets a lot. However, I found it a little daunting to style the glass cabinets at first. I didn’t consider that the things I place inside the cabinet would affect the overall outlook of the kitchen. I discovered simple tricks and techniques that made my glass cabinets function well and look great with time.

I will be sharing these tricks with you, giving you some easy tips on how to style your glass cabinets to get your kitchen goals.

Select a Color Scheme

Having an all-white kitchen accords me with various choices when I intend to add extra colors to my kitchen, but I discovered that I must also make deliberate choices. Having a variety of colors in my cabinets tends to make my kitchen a bit disconnected and messy. So, I display only the items that perfectly fit into the color scheme in the glass cabinets. I store the serving wares and dishes that do not match the color palettes in the cabinets with polished wood doors.

When designing my glass cabinets, I ensure to use one or two colors. This adds a cohesive and pretty feel to my kitchen.

In the summer and spring months, I brighten up the kitchen with splashes of cream and white. I also add subtle shades of pink or gray.

I put natural wood items and add little copper touches inside my glass cabinets. In winter and fall, I add warm colors to enliven the cabinets’ look. Irrespective of the season, I ensure I use only a few accent colors. This gives my kitchen a crisp and clean look.

Create Balance

Placing the perfect size of items and having the right balance of things in the glass cabinets impacts the look of your kitchen. Having numerous large items in the cabinet or small items clutter usually makes the kitchen look cluttered or off balance.

I generally like to combine the larger items with clusters of cookbooks or smaller items. Because my glass cabinet is divided into two, I tend to decorate in 2 columns.

I recently discovered that my plate stacks look awesome when placed beside each other with small cookbooks underneath. This adds interest and height. Also, soup tureens or oversized pitchers put in front of each other in diagonal shape create balance.

Keep your Cabinet Functional

While having beautiful glass cabinets is great, you must also make them functional. There are two glass front cabinets in my kitchen. I store my everyday glassware and dishes in these cabinets. The idea behind this is to ensure that my regular items are accessible and easily within reach of everyone. My children tend to pick items from the lowest part of the shelf, so that’s where my often used glasses and plates are. It also makes for easy dishwashing.

The items I don’t use regularly and exclusively decorative items are placed on the upper parts of the shelf. This helps most parts of the cabinet remain as styled. And only a few alterations are made to the lower shelves when required.

All upper cabinets inside my kitchen feature glass doors, so it is essential that I keep them well organized and styled. The truth is with specific seasonal changes and shifting round, my kitchen looks inviting and warm, and that’s how I love it.

Conclusion

Having gone through the above tips and ideas, I hope they help you style your kitchen’s glass cabinets just the way you like and bestow your kitchen with an exciting fresh look!
